Your dedicated AVONEX“ nurse

  • Once you have been diagnosed with MS and your neurologist suggests AVONEX" treatment, your dedicated AVONEX" nurse will call you to introduce herself and to explain how she can be of assistance to you.
  • She will visit you at home at your convenience on a weekly basis for the first four weeks to teach you how to self-inject. This will help alleviate any anxiety you may have about injecting on your own. Should your caregiver also wish to learn the injecting procedure, your AVONEX" nurse will be more than happy to train them.

Not only that, but your AVONEX" nurse will be on call to assist you with:

  • Information on the disease itself and the treatment
  • Advice and answers to all questions related to MS symptoms. Often, a person with MS may have mild symptoms and does not want to call their doctor. Your AVONEX" nurse will be more than happy to chat to you about what you should do
  • Home visits
  • Provide useful tips of how you should manage common side effects and what to expect from the treatment
  • Assistance with medical aids. This can be invaluable, as often the amount of paperwork required to obtain your MS treatment can be daunting. Your dedicated AVONEX"s nurse will be more than happy to assist you
  • Feedback to your doctor
  • Provide support through regular phone calls and emails
  • Provide you with a wide variety of resources. E.g. MS Society, interesting websites to visit, physiotherapists that specialize in MS, Biokineticists, etc.
  • Provide counselling when needed. This is usually done over the phone and is confidential.
  • Your dedicated AVONEX" nurse is only a phone call away. Remember, you may call her at any reasonable time on the number she will give you.
